Rosie Jeeks hasn’t raced often during her career – and only three times in the past 18 months prior to Saturday at Monmouth Park– but the 4-year-old filly is making the wait worthwhile. Moved off the rail early in the stretch by jockey Samy Camacho to get clearance for a late run, Rosie Jeeks passed three horses in the final sixteenth of a mile on the way to a 1¼-length victory in Saturday’s $102,000 Goldwood Stakes at Monmouth Park.

Monmouth Park’s perennial riding champion Paco Lopez capped a five-win day by getting heavily-favored Madame Mischief to surge late for a 3/4-length victory in Friday’s featured $50,000 allowance at the Oceanport, N.J., track. With longshot Don’t Listen taking the field of eight fillies and mares 3 and up through snappy early fractions of :22.37, :45.88 and 1:11.10 through six furlongs of the mile and a sixteenth grass race, Lopez was content to sit on the rail with Madame Mischief in fourth.

Several runners were scratched from races at Woodbine Racetrack in Ontario, Canada, on Thursday, June 19, after one horse from trainer Krista Cole's string in Barn 32 tested positive for Equine Herpesvirus (EHV-1). The Daily Racing Form was the first to report the reason for the scratches. Cole told the Paulick Report that the affected horse is alive and well. He was immediately transported to a nearby veterinary hospital, University of Guelph, where he has since tested negative on a nasal swab.
