The Dispatch started its journey in 1902, taking over from the weekly Davidson Dispatch, which was established in 1882 by T.B. Eldridge. In 1919, the paper transitioned to semi-weekly releases and later moved to a six-day-a-week format on September 6, 1948. However, on September 1, 2008, the publication dropped its Monday edition and now comes out five days a week.

    Consideration of a developer's application for a permit allowing a Lexington vacant boarding house, more than 100 years old, to be turned into apartments will have to wait until July. The Lexington City Planning Board of Adjustment had been scheduled to hear it on June 16 but continued the request until its July meeting to give developer Tim Savage of Savage Properties more time to work on parking issues at the site, 38 Mill St., said Josh Monk, Lexington's planning and developer service manager.

    On Wednesday, the sun glowed a bit brighter and morning time was a bit happier for fans of the "scratch made" biscuits at Lexington's Biscuitville. After nearly four months of being closed when a woman crashed into the the city's only Biscuitville on Feb. 26, it finally reopened on June 18. The company has been working on repairs to the the back side of the building at the kitchen where the woman struck the building with a rented U-Haul truck.
