Published 10:00 am Saturday, June 7, 2025 VALLEY — On Saturday, June 21, the Valley Arts Council will host its first-ever weekend market from 7 a.m. till noon EDT at Valley Farmers Market Pavilion near the old Langdale Mill site. “The first one will be a trial run,” said Arts Council President Suzie Britt. “If it goes well, we’d like to keep doing it on a Saturday every month or maybe even twice a month.”A total of 25 vendors have committed to the first Saturday Market.

There will be nature-theme read-abouts, outdoor games, arts and crafts, guest speakers and end with a fun splash pad party on Friday. At the Thursday West Point Rotary Club meeting, Erin Anderson, the summer camp’s program director, shared what will be taking place at the camp.

Offices on the ballot include mayor, five seats on the city council and five seats on the city school board. Voting will be taking place in the L.B. Sykes Community Center, located at 1302 North Cherry Drive.

Published 9:24 am Thursday, June 5, 2025 VALLEY – Joseph Manley, the Alabama state champion from the SkillsUSA automotive technology competition, will be competing in the national finals at the National Leadership & Skills Conference. The Conference will take place in late June at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta. Manley and his Inspire Academy instructor, James Winkles, were guest speakers at Monday’s meeting of the Valley Lions Club.
