On Wednesday at the Langdale Methodist Church, Neal spoke to the Kiwanis Club of Valley at the club’s weekly meeting.

A massive total of 34 people are running for office in Lanett this year. Every seat on the city council and the city school board is being contested. In Valley, four incumbent council members qualified for new terms without opposition.

The crowd assembled for the program included U.S. Senators Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff of Georgia and Tommy Tuberville and Katie Britt of Alabama. More than 70 people were present for the third annual Senior Fish Fry provided by Mayor Jamie Heard. It had a theme of “Boots on the Ground” and some students from Point University were there to demonstrate line dancing. Several seniors clad in blue jeans and wearing cowboy boots joined them in an impromptu dance-off, and everyone there had a great time.

Published 10:00 am Wednesday, May 7, 2025 LANETT — Two golden roosters on Gilmer had reason to crow on Cinco de Mayo. The two golden roosters would be a business on Gilmer Avenue in Lanett that had their retail liquor license approved by the Lanett City Council on Monday. The business is located in house that’s been painted a bright orange color and located across from Kroger on a heavily-traveled portion of Highway 29. The business is named Taqueria 2 Gallos de Oro LLC.
