The Western Gazette

The Western Gazette

The Western Gazette is a regional newspaper that comes out every Thursday in Yeovil, Somerset, England. Originally, before February 2009, the paper had eleven local sub-editions, which were later streamlined to six: North Dorset, Sherborne, West Dorset, Crewkerne & Chard, Yeovil & District, and South Somerset. By 2012, the number of editions was reduced to five: Yeovil; Sherborne; Somerton & Langport; Wincanton, Castle Cary, Bruton & Gillingham; and Crewkerne, Chard & Ilminster. In 2012, Local World purchased Northcliffe Media from Daily Mail and General Trust, which was the newspaper's owner at the time.

If people at Glastonbury Festival are not spending their time camping out in the cold, or dancing the night away to a star-studded line-up of the world's best musicians, they're sampling the taste-bud tickling food offering of Worthy Farm's many vendors. Whenever anyone returns from a weekend away for the Somerset event, one of the first things they mention—other than the mind-bogging beer prices—is the iconic ostrich burger.

Glastonbury Festival has well and truly arrived and attendees have got in the party spirit with outstanding fancy dress. Plenty of them daring, a couple unworldly, and of course some that raise more than a few questions. SomersetLive has seen some great costumes so far this week.

There's a brand new area at Worthy Farm that's already attracting crowds of people at Glastonbury Festival. Dragon's Tail, located in the southeast corner, offers something fresh and exciting for this year's event. Nestled in between the Unfairground and Shangri-La lies a space where one can find some much-needed shade from the baking sunshine—or to put it in recent perspective, protect you from torrential showers.
