The World at One
The World at One, commonly known as WATO ("what-oh"), is a well-established lunchtime news and current affairs show on BBC Radio 4. Produced by BBC News, it airs from 1:00 PM to 1:45 PM, Monday through Friday. The program prides itself on being "Britain's leading political program" and is known for its thorough and innovative reporting, making it essential listening for those in Westminster. Due to its influential nature, the show often sets the news agenda, with its interviews making headlines from lunchtime into the early evening. Starting on November 7, 2011, the duration of the program was increased from 30 minutes to 45 minutes. As a result, other shows that previously aired right after The World at One, like Brain of Britain, have been relocated to a new time slot within the Radio 4 schedule. Now, a short 15-minute program fills the time until 2 PM.
