Not exactly Kyrie Irving. The Phoenix Suns are in the midst of trying to find a new head coach, but they have all manner of roster issues to solve ahead of next season. Any team that finishes with only 36 wins despite having championship ambitions has a lot to fix, and you can be sure that some big names could be on the move. Kevin Durant looking like the most likely player to get traded, although the Suns would surely love to ditch Bradley Beal and his no-trade clause if they could.

Time to think outside the box. The Phoenix Suns might be in the process of trying to find the perfect head coach to take them forward, but that doesn't mean they are not also preparing to shake up their roster. Surely not? The Phoenix Suns continue to search for the perfect head coach to take them into what it is hoped will be a better season in 2025-25, with owner Mat Ishbia and new General Manager Brian Gregory telling everybody who will listen that this process is going to take some time. Would this actually have fixed anything though? It is no secret that the Phoenix Suns were active around the trade deadline this season in trying to improve their roster. The most surprising name that came up as the franchise was trying to claw its way into the postseason - an objective they failed to achieve - was that of Kevin Durant. For a moment there it looked like he could head back to the Golden State Warriors, as the Suns became fixated on the idea of Jimmy Butler saving their season.

They better have made some calls on this already. The Phoenix Suns might have had to watch as their 2025 NBA Draft pick - which ended up landing in the 10th spot - was gratefully cashed in by the Houston Rockets, but that doesn't mean the landing spots unveiled during the lottery didn't impact them. If anything the surprise leaps of the Dallas Mavericks, San Antonio Spurs and Philadelphia 76ers into the top three spots respectively have presented more questions than answers.
