Susan Jean Herr, 40, was involved in a motor vehicle collision at a property on County Road 466 in The Villages around 2:45 a.m. Thursday, according to an arrest report from the Florida Highway Patrol. She was seen in the driver’s seat of the involved vehicle, a white 2004 Oldsmobile Alero, by deputies with the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.

    An Ocklawaha man was arrested for grand theft after allegedly stealing a $1,548 weight set from a cart at a local Winn-Dixie. A deputy responded to Winn-Dixie, located at 15912 E. Hwy. 40, Silver Springs, regarding grand theft, later found to involve 58-year-old Richard Gerard Brown, on Thursday afternoon, according to an arrest report from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office. Upon arrival, the deputy met with a female employee of the Department of Agricultural and Consumer Services.

The Project Wise Advisory Committee heard from a room full of upset water volleyball players Monday morning during a meeting at SeaBreeze Recreation Center. Recent schedule changes sparked conflict between Group and Division volleyball players who have both vied for the coveted 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. playing spots at sports pools.
