(KOLN) - The Lincoln Public Schools Board of Education appointed a successor to fill the remainder of longtime board member Lanny Boswell’s term during its regular meeting on Tuesday. LPS Board unanimously appointed Mara Krivohlavek to the seat to finish Boswell’s term that ends May 19, 6-0. Krivohlavek is currently running unopposed for the District 5 seat in the Lincoln General Election.

    LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - A Hall County District Court judge has decided that the York notary accused of improperly notarizing Nebraska’s medical cannabis petitions last year should be tried. Court documents filed on Tuesday show Hall County District Court Judge Andrew Butler reversed the Hall County Court’s ruling granting 54-year-old Jacy Todd’s motion to quash and reinstated the State of Nebraska’s amended complaint.

    OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - The 3-year-old girl who died from an accidental gunshot wound over the weekend had found her father’s gun under a couch cushion, according to the affidavit filed Monday in Douglas County Court. The girl’s family — three siblings and both parents — were at the home when it happened. Omaha Police responded at 1:46 p.m. Saturday and pronounced the 3-year-old dead at the scene, the document states. Her father, Phuc Le, was subsequently arrested and booked into jail.

(KOLN) - U.S. Senators Deb Fischer and Pete Ricketts joined the Nebraska Farm Bureau Tuesday morning to urge Congress to renew the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA) that is set to expire at the end of the year. Since the law was passed, wages increased by 4.9%, income increased by $6,160, 5 million jobs were created and more than 6 million people were lifted out of poverty, according to Sen. Ricketts. The TCJA also provided significant tax relief to agricultural producers.
