Just like the title says... I know it might be an unpopular opinion, but I don't think regular people should be lighting off fireworks. I'm not sure how blowing things up became synonymous with celebrating or marking occasions in America, but I'm not a fan. I'm not a fan of fireworks. Well, let me clarify... I'm not a fan of your average Joe Schmoe lighting off the $328 worth of fireworks he bought at a pop-up stand in the Meijer parking lot.

I am a Lansing, Michigan resident. So, I find it helpful to be a part of local Facebook groups. That way, I can keep up on what's happening in my neighborhood. As such, I saw something recently that got me thinking. Someone in the Eastside Neighborhood Organization Facebook group shared a Ring doorbell picture. The picture appears to show two young men dressed in business casual clothes and wearing name tags standing on their porch.

"Of course Michiganders don't have an accent..." said every Michigander everywhere. Sure, Southerners have their different drawls and you can't go to the west coast without hearing a severe vocal fry somewhere. But, what makes Michiganders and their accents so unique? Courtesy of Canva ProTurns out, it's not how we say things, but what we're saying that shows our true Michigander heritage.

This time of year, Michigan is going through two seasons simultaneously: summer and construction. With only so many "good weather" months to take advantage of, Michigan has to fit in as much construction as possible during that time. Which means there are LOTS of work zones. Lansing is currently experiencing significant road construction with so many major areas under big-time road work. Lane closures and shifts along 127, a closure on Michigan Avenue, and more. the picture has a sky blue background.

Hunger Games is an iconic young adult book series turned movie that is pretty awesome, in my opinion. It follows Katniss (teen female main character) as she navigates her dystopian world and the new reality she faces as she becomes a "tribute" for The Hunger Games. The Hunger Games is basically a dystopian version of "America’s Got Talent"—except instead of singing and dancing, teens are forced to fight to the death on live TV for the entertainment of the wealthy.
