LUZERNE BOROUGH, LUZERNE CO. (WOLF) — A military bomb squad is in the process of removing what's described as a massive amount of military ordinances that were discovered in a home on Bennett Street in Luzerne Borough Friday. Officials from McGuire Air Force Base in New Jersey arrived at the home that same evening to remove the ordinances. The ordinances were left behind by the owner of the property who passed away last week.

Chiropractor awarded $1.1 million settlement in malicious prosecution claim

SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA CO. (WOLF) — A Lackawanna County chiropractor who was accused of sexually assaulting a woman in 2018 is now receiving a $1.1 million settlement stemming from a lawsuit he filed claiming malicious prosecution. Attorney Joseph Guzzardo said Wednesday that his client, Dr. John Stevens, has settled with former Lackawanna County District Attorney Mark Powell, two detectives and the accuser. Charges against Stevens were dropped in 2019. The lawsuit was later filed in 2020.

Sugarloaf Township Police were called to a home on Merry L Lane in Luzerne County Tuesday shortly after 5:30 p.m. for a report of a shooting. State Police Trooper Anthony Petroski said the victim was taken to a local hospital to be treated for injuries.

WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE CO. (WOLF) — A large water main break at the corner of Public Square and West Market Street in Wilkes-Barre is affecting traffic in that area. Wilkes-Barre Fire Chief Jay Delaney said it's a "very large break" with water extending from Public Square to Franklin Street. "It is contained right now," he said. Pennsylvania American Water was on site Monday evening. UGI was also on site working to determine if there are any natural gas lines affected as a result.

Firefighters were initially called to the mountain on Nov. 2nd.
