Paying more for auto insurance, but not as much as you could have. Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey announced a settlement with the NC Rate Bureau. The settlement translates to an average statewide increase of 5%. It’s 17.6% lower than the original request. The Rate Bureau represents companies which write auto insurance. A hearing was scheduled for the rate bureau’s proposed 23% car insurance rate increase, but Commissioner Causey says the hearing is canceled now.
