The B.C. government is now actively recruiting healthcare workers from the United States, announcing a new $5 million initiative Friday. In a press conference from Colwood, Minister of Health Jodie Osborne announced the new recruitment campaign for doctors and nurses in Washington state, Oregon and parts of California. The campaign was launched on June 2, and includes video, audio, digital, social media and print placements south of the border, encouraging health professionals to move north.

Heavy equipment at one Metro Vancouver’s biggest container ports is now running on fully renewable fuel. Global Container Terminals Inc. announced Thursday that renewable fuels at GCT’s Vanterm terminal have replaced diesel across heavy-duty equipment like container handlers, said vice-president of public affairs Marko Dekovic. The initiative started as a pilot in August 2024 and ramped up progressively to this point, he said.

Located just off Tofino (which itself is located on Vancouver Island's west coast), Neilson Island (also known as Bond Island) has been listed for an even $10 million. The large island, which sits less than one kilometre from the resort community of Tofino, is a single property with just a house and a guest cabin. One person has died and another has been seriously injured after a TransLink bus driver struck two pedestrians Wednesday afternoon at the Horseshoe Bay ferry terminal in West Vancouver. The West Vancouver Police Department confirmed officers were called to the scene at around 3:30 p.m. Images from the scene show an articulated bus straddling the sidewalk outside the terminal.
