On a recent weekend, rural Osoyoos saw a grand opening of a new pavillion, honouring a longtime local firefighter. Mark Pendergraft, Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen chair and Area “A” director attended the "Music on the Mountain" concert at the new Jamie Soule Memorial Park pavilion. The area is named after the late Jamie Soule, who was the deputy chief of the Anarchist Mountain Fire Department.

A series of open house events focused on wildfire resiliency planning will take place this month in the Regional District of Okanagan Similkameen. Presented by the RDOS and Diamond Head Consulting Ltd., the events will be informal and open, intended to provide information to rural areas in the RDOS about ongoing work on a "Community Wildfire Resiliency Plan."Residents can drop by and ask questions and view displays.

The B.C. government is now actively recruiting healthcare workers from the United States, announcing a new $5 million initiative Friday. In a press conference from Colwood, Minister of Health Jodie Osborne announced the new recruitment campaign for doctors and nurses in Washington state, Oregon and parts of California. The campaign was launched on June 2, and includes video, audio, digital, social media and print placements south of the border, encouraging health professionals to move north.
