MIDLAND, Texas — A human trafficking suspect who was booked in Midland County jail in early April was hit with an identity fraud charge Wednesday, according to arrest records. NewsWest 9 is unaware if the identity fraud charge for 33-year-old Damonte Baty is linked to the human trafficking investigation. SCURRY COUNTY, Texas — A Big Spring man was found dead in a bar ditch in Scurry County Monday morning, according to the Scurry County Sheriff's Office on Wednesday. At 8:09 a.m., deputies were called to a bar ditch near the intersection of Farm to Market Road 1606 and County Road 394 because of a reported possible dead person. The sheriff's office, along with EMS, went to the scene and confirmed the dead body. The person has been identified as Kelly Bryan Jones of Big Spring.

LUBBOCK, Texas — Fifteen-year-old Jazmin Calderon, who was on life support after sustaining major injuries in a neighborhood fight in Midland on May 20, passed away on Sunday, the family said on Tuesday. The neighborhood fight Jazmin was involved in happened along Weatherford Street in Midland. A video shared with NewsWest 9 appears to show Jazmin collapse behind a truck. She was taken to Midland Memorial Hospital before being taken to a Lubbock hospital.

ECTOR COUNTY, Texas — Ector County Judge Dustin Fawcett has issued an Emergency Declaration for the Pleasant Farms storms that left destruction in their path, he told NewsWest 9 on Tuesday. The National Weather Service confirmed 120 mph winds and two injuries as a result of the storms. Judge Fawcett told NewsWest 9 that the declaration is being sent to Governor Greg Abbott now.
