Dunlap broke ground on its new $8.5 million training center Wednesday afternoon. The District 323 school board, superintendent Dr. Scott Dearman and Village of Dunlap mayor Jack Esterdahl were a part of a brief presentation and the ceremonial turning the first shovel of dirt. The Dunlap Training Center is slated to be a 42,500-square-foot indoor facility located on the high school campus at the corner of Legion Hall Road and Cedar Hills Drive.

Western Michigan redshirt junior Kaevion Mack has entered the NCAA football transfer portal. The former Peoria High all-Big 12 Conference player will be a graduate transfer following a four-year career with the Broncos. Mack, a 6-foot-2, 200-pound wide receiver, appeared in 23 games with seven catches for 84 yards and two touchdowns during his time with the Mid-American Conference program. In 2024, Mack appeared in all 13 games, catching five balls for 63 yards and two scores.

The Illinois High School Association state softball finals will remain at Peoria's Louisville Slugger Sports Complex through 2028. LSSC, which has hosted the state finals since 2021, had its contract extended by three years at the IHSA board of directors monthly meeting on Monday. Next year for the first time, the softball state finals move from a multi-weekend format to a single-weekend event. The board voted in that change in January.
