We are still months away from the official 2025-26 Illinois basketball schedule coming out but who said we couldn't start piecing together what we already know about next year's slate? Unlike football, college basketball schedules are typically built in between seasons with only a few pre-planned games already set. Most of Illinois' nonconference slate still being constructed, but we do at least know of a couple matchups on the slate for next year, plus every Big Ten Conference opponent.

The 2025 NBA Draft could be a special time for the Illinois basketball program. The Fighting Illini and coach Brad Underwood are expected to have two players drafted, with the possibility of two Illinois players in the first round — something that has not happened in two decades. Only twice have two Illini gone in the first round of the same NBA draft: Deron Williams and Luther Head in 2005; and Nick Anderson and Kenny Battle in 1989.

The NFL Draft is done for 2025, and five players who played high school football in Illinois got their names called in one of seven rounds in Green Bay, Wisconsin, according to MaxPreps. The states of Texas (36 players), Florida (26), Georgia (22) and California (16) led the way this year as 41 states and the District of Columbia has at least one player drafted among the 257 picked over seven rounds on April 24-26. Here is a look at the five from the Land of Lincoln, listed with their high school.
