The Agassiz RCMP are investigating after a man was reportedly attacked by two pit bulls in the Hemlock Valley area northwest of Agassiz over the Mother's Day weekend. The attack took place on Hemlock Valley Road near the Sasquatch Mountain Resort on the morning of Sunday, May 11. The victim was able to call 9-1-1 and stayed on the phone until the ambulance arrived. Paramedics found him laying on the side of the road obscured by a bush.

High tourism season is at the doorstep of Harrison Hot Springs – and so is the pay parking program that comes with it. Thursday – May 15 – marked the first day of pay parking for 2025 in the village. Much of the beachfront along Esplanade Avenue and a portion of its neighbouring main corridor, Lillooet Avenue as well as a number of connecting side streets, will be pay to park as of late this week. This year's parking fee structure has not changed since last year.

During a rather brief District of Kent Council meeting, district officials unanimously approved the groundwork for Kent's Canada Day celebration. According to a report from manager of recreation, culture and projects Skylar Gormley, this year's Canada Day theme is Prehistoric Party.

The local MLA paid tribute to a District of Kent hero during a recent legislative session in Victoria. During the May 5 session of the Legislative Assembly, Fraser-Nicola MLA Tony Luck recognized the achievements of the late manager of Kent-Harrison Search and Rescue (KHSAR), Neil Brewer. Brewer is the inaugural recipient of the Freedom of the District of Kent Award, the highest civilian honour bestowed by the Kent government. Brewer passed away in March, just weeks after receiving the honour.
