A new recovery home is opening downtown. The Salvation Army of South Central Kansas previously used the space at 350 N. Market as a homeless shelter but has transitioned it to care for those in recovery. The shelter is meant to help those in need of mental health care and substance abuse treatment, as well as those experiencing homelessness. Renovation of the space, which has has 21 new beds in three different units, cost around $1 million, and a grant helped pay for part of that.

KBOR approves tuition increase for state universities

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – College tuition is going up at all but one state university in Kansas, as the Kansas Board of Regents approved the changes Thursday. Emporia State is the only university that has not requested a tuition increase for this upcoming year. Wichita State is increasing tuition rates by nearly 4%, and students going to KU or KU-Med will pay a 3.5% increase, as will those going to Pittsburg State University. In Manhattan, tuition is going up 2.8% at Kansas State University.
