AUSTIN, Texas (KFDA) - Darrell Fisher, a Borger school resource officer with the Borger Police Department, was given a Public Service Award at the State of Texas Law Enforcement Achievement Awards Ceremony. Fisher was one of six recipients of the Public Service Award. Other award categories include professional achievement and valor. 24 individuals received awards. The ceremony was held at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 21 on the University of Texas campus in Austin.

GUYMON, Okla. (KFDA) - The Guymon Fire Department Swift Water Team responded to assist locals after flooding impacted the town. According to a press release, six fire units from Guymon deployed throughout the town. The team used boats to respond to areas with deep, dangerous or fast moving water. Guymon Firefighters, Guymon Police Officers, Texas County Deputies and the Guymon Street Department personnel rescued around 50 to 60 people in the early morning hours of June 19.

AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) - A woman has been charged with intoxication manslaughter and intoxication assault causing serious bodily injury after a fatal crash in 2020. According to the 47th District Attorney’s Office, the crash occurred on June 21, 2020. The press release states four people were headed eastbound on Wolflin Avenue and were hit by a woman running a red light at the intersection of Wolflin and Washington.

AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) - The Xcel Energy Foundation awarded a $5,000 grant to Meals on Wheel of Amarillo through their Employee Choice Grant awards program. Each year, employees nominate nonprofits of their choice that are important to them. The nominees are then taken to a panel of employees to select finalists. Employees than vote for a single finalist. The Employee Choice Grants program expanded to Texas and New Mexico in 2023 and now includes six states served by Xcel Energy.
