Floodwaters that swelled rivers in Augusta on Wednesday are now making their way into Cowley County. Emergency management officials are preparing and warning people to stay away from flood-prone areas, including the fairgrounds near the Walnut River, where barricades have been placed.

El Dorado City Manager David Dillner called the rainfall a “150-year storm event,” saying many residents had never seen flooding of this magnitude.
