KWCH-TV (Wichita, KS)

KWCH 12 holds the distinction of being Kansas's first television station, launching its broadcasts on July 1, 1953, under the name KTVH Channel 12. Originally based in Hutchinson, Kansas, situated about 45 miles northwest of Wichita, the station relocated its facilities in 1956 to its current site on 37th St. North in Wichita. In 1983, the station changed its call letters from KTVH to KWCH, and its ownership was merged with three additional Kansas stations in the region, which are KBSD in Dodge City, KBSH in Hays, and KBSL in Goodland.

The Humane Society shared images of the dog, affectionately named “Bark Box,” referring to him as “another unfortunate victim of gun violence.” They said he had likely been shot at close range with birdshot, as plastic casings were found in his wound.
