KWCH-TV (Wichita, KS)
KWCH 12 holds the distinction of being Kansas's first television station, launching its broadcasts on July 1, 1953, under the name KTVH Channel 12. Originally based in Hutchinson, Kansas, situated about 45 miles northwest of Wichita, the station relocated its facilities in 1956 to its current site on 37th St. North in Wichita. In 1983, the station changed its call letters from KTVH to KWCH, and its ownership was merged with three additional Kansas stations in the region, which are KBSD in Dodge City, KBSH in Hays, and KBSL in Goodland.

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - Following last week’s storms that tore through south-central Kansas, many in the Wichita area are left to clean up tree debris. A close call for first responders on Sunday prompted a safety warning from the Wichita Fire Department, especially when it comes to tree trimming. On Sunday evening, the WFD responded to a medical call on South Madison Street, where someone working to cut limbs fell from a tree and landed on their back.
