    Yesterday evening, the Boulder Police Department published a news release asking for the public’s help to find a woman who’s now wanted on 35 new charges related to menacing a group of schoolchildren and teachers on Monday. The Boulder Police Department arrested Alyssa F. Barger on May 5 for felony menacing after the department received reports that a woman was waving around a knife and allegedly threatening to kill a teacher and students in the 1700 block of Broadway.

    House Bill 25-1274, which concerns the Healthy School Meals for All (HSMA) program, has passed both the House and the Senate as of May 7. The bill will place two measures on the November 2025 ballot for Colorado voters: one to allow the state to retain and spend additional revenue on the program, and another to expand funding by further limiting tax deductions for high-income earners, according to Colorado House Democrats.

    CU Boulder’s commencement ceremony for graduates of the university occurred today, and the institution reported that it “conferred a record 10,138 degrees earned by 9,934 graduates.” The ceremony took place at Folsom Field on the university’s campus. The university said that more than 30,000 people were estimated to have attended the ceremony as spectators.

    “Bike and Roll to School Day” is being celebrated nationally and across Colorado on May 7, including in Longmont. Schools across the state were invited to participate by the Colorado Department of Transportation. Longmont Public Safety posted about the event on May 6. “This national annual event promotes and practices bicycle, pedestrian, and road safety among classmates, families, and caregivers,” said Longmont Public Safety, on Facebook.

    On May 2, the Longmont Fire Department celebrated the arrival and commissioning of a new ladder truck with a “traditional, ceremonial event,” according to Longmont Public Safety. After the event, the new ladder truck (unit number 52274) officially went into service in the City of Longmont.
