    One year after a similar tax proposal failed by 109 votes, St. Johns School District residents overwhelming voted down efforts by the district for nearly $100 million in new bond money. The district on May 6 asked voters for $99.8 million for major improvements Superintendent Anthony Berthiaume said were necessary for current and future students of the district. Plans had called for renovations to aging buildings and building a new early learning center for the district's preschool-aged kids.

    LANSING – A wind advisory is in effect for a dozen counties including the Lansing area until 3 p.m. April 29, and widespread frost is possible overnight across much of Lower Michigan. The National Weather Service said west winds of 20-25 miles per hour are expected through most of the day, with winds gusting up to 45 mph. Winds are expected to be strong enough to blow around unsecured objects, as well as bring down tree limbs and cause power outages.
