In Ingham County, Dansville, Webberville, Williamston, Leslie, Stockbridge and Mason school are closed, as are the Ingham Intermediate School District’s Dansville EI classroom, Heartwood School and Wilson Talent Center. In Eaton County, Eaton Rapids schools and Island City Academy are closed.

LANSING – More than 18,000 homes and businesses in the Lansing area were without power after powerful thunderstorms blew through the area Sunday evening. Consumers Energy had more than 7,000 customers in the Lansing area, and more than 182,000 customers statewide, without power. Severe Thunderstorms hit much of Lower Michigan south of Mt. Pleasant to the Ohio border, while an ice storm has caused power outages in Northern Michigan and the Eastern Upper Peninsula.

LANSING – Temperatures were expected to approach 70 degrees Sunday in and around Lansing, but the warmth is also expected to bring the chance of severe storms. The National Weather Service Grand Rapids station issued a hazardous weather outlook for the Lansing region, warning of damaging winds, large hail and a slight chance of a tornado.

PORTLAND – Four students were hospitalized after a bus crashed into a guardrail on eastbound Interstate 96 near Portland Saturday morning. Michigan State Police said the crash occurred about 6:54 a.m. when a bus transporting high school students to a college visit in Ohio left the freeway and struck a guardrail.
