    MERIDIAN TWP. — A Lansing woman faces assault with intent to murder and other charges in connection with a shooting in the Meridian Mall parking lot May 30 that wounded two people. Alexia Isabel Jimenez, 19, of Lansing was arrested May 30 and arraigned on June 1 on charges of assault with intent to murder, carrying a concealed weapon and felony firearm. Her bond was set at $1 million.

    DELHI TWP. - A 22-year-old motorcyclist was seriously injured in a crash with a large box truck on the afternoon of May 31, police said. The motorcyclist, from Onondaga in southern Ingham County, was riding north on Eifert Road near McCue Road about 3:45 p.m. when he tried to pass the box truck that was turning left, according to the Ingham County Sheriff's Office.

    LANSING - About 2,000 homes and businesses remain without electricity four days after severe storms moved through the Lansing area. As of 7 a.m. Monday, May 19, Consumers Energy is reporting about 900 customers without power between Charlotte and Potterville, in the area where an EF-1 tornado was confirmed by the National Weather Service on the evening of May 15. Consumers said it expected to restore power during the day on May 19.

    LANSING — A late-night line of storms that moved across the Lansing region left more than 32,000 customers in the area without power. Severe thunderstorms that prompted tornado warnings in several communities late the evening of May 15 and in the early morning hours of May 16 produced high winds and heavy rains, and the resulting power outages caused several school closures. Several schools have canceled classes Friday because of power outages.
