(WLNS) – The Portland St. Patrick baseball team defeated Norway 7-0 in the Div. 4 State Semifinals on Friday, advancing to the state championship game for the first time since 2017. EAST LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) – The best postseason run in Mason baseball history came to an end on Thursday afternoon with a 5-4 loss to Standish-Sterling in the state semifinals. The Bulldogs trailed 5-0 after the fifth inning but scored two in the sixth to climb back into it. Mason loaded the bases with one out in the seventh inning. Then, Wyatt Ball hit a ground ball to second base and when Standish-Sterling tried to turn a double play to end the game, the throw to first got away.

WATERFORD, Mich. (WLNS) – For the second straight year, the DeWitt girls soccer team was one of the last four standing in Div. 2. But for the second straight year, the Panthers saw their season come to a close with a 1-0 loss in the semifinals. AdvertisementDeWitt fell to New Boston Huron on Tuesday night, with the Chiefs’ Avery Turk scoring the only goal with 25 minutes to play.

FOWLER, Mich. (WLNS) – The Fowler girls track and field program brought home its second straight state championship last Saturday, providing a perfect ending to a season that became about so much more than a race for the community. Fowler assistant coach Britney Weber was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma in January. She is a Fowler alum who helped the Eagles win back-to-back state championships as an athlete in 2011 and 2012.

FINAL: Mason 6, Williamston 1 The Bulldogs scored six runs in the fourth inning to win their first regional title in program history. Junior Ryan Myers pitched the complete game. Mason will play in the state quarterfinals at 3:00 against the winner of Trenton vs. Chelsea.
