CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Beach to Bay is this weekend and so are some graduations in the Coastal Bend. We've been talking about a chance for rain moving in on Saturday. A day out, how is it looking? Up front, it will NOT be a washout, but a few spotty showers will be in play. Alvin, the first named storm of the Pacific Hurricane Season will move north this weekend. The storm is of no concern locally, but some upper level energy off the top of it will work across Mexico and into South Texas.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The first named storm in the Pacific Basin formed on Thursday morning. Tropical Storm Alvin will move north, likely weakening as it approaches the Gulf of California. The forecast cone shows Alvin becoming a remnant low by Saturday. This weakening trend will likely be because of strong wind shear that sets up between an area of high and low pressure.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH is in effect until 11pm tonight west of the KIII viewing area, along the Rio Grande. This may expand east later tonight. THURSDAY NIGHT: Scattered shower and thunderstorm will be in play through late Thursday afternoon. Some of this may be strong to severe. We should see coverage decrease with the loss of daytime heating. However, additional storm chances will remain in place into the night.

We are anticipating another round of showers and storms to move into the KIII viewing area from the north during the pre-dawn hours of Thursday morning. Like this morning, some storms could be stronger, producing gusty winds, small hail, and heavy rain. https://t.co/LeCtzZgsS3 https://t.co/Vu1jBbSDu9

Showers and thunderstorms in play Thursday morning; approaching the Coastal Bend from the north. Not expecting severe, but like Wednesday morning, heavy rain, lightning and 40 mph wind gusts will be possible; maybe some pea sized hail too. Last night's storms knocked the radar in Del Rio offline. That'll make an already difficult forecast evening more challenging because we'll be 'flying blind' with any storms that develop out west tonight. https://t.co/7RFScc7ykT
