CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The City of Corpus Christi is making efforts to redo a decades-old street on the South Side. Huntwick Avenue significantly deteriorated over time since traffic frequently uses it to access H-E-B Plus from South Staples Street. It was built with asphalt in the mid-1990s by a private developer. Corpus Christi Engineering Services Director Jeff Edmonds said it will be reconstructed by a contractor between South Staples Street and where the asphalt transitions to concrete.

They estimated a peak wind gust of 115 mph between Alice and Petronila, where hundreds of power and transmission poles were snapped. The power line poles that were snapped 10-15 ft above the ground are evidence of 115 mph wind speeds. The survey started where a well-organized MCS with a maturing bow echo moved into Duval and Jim Wells County.
