About a month after the Western New Year is the Lunar New Year which, as its name suggests, marks the start of a new year based on the lunar calendar. The Lunar New Year is widely celebrated for 15 days among Asian communities like Chinese and Taiwanese through a host of events, parades, and festivals throughout the U.S. This year, the Lunar New Year celebrations start on Jan. 29, 2025 and run through mid-February in some cities.

Like Robert Zimmerman, after I finished high school, I moved to Minneapolis to attend college at the University of Minnesota. And like Zimmerman, I lived in Dinkytown, frequented the coffee shops, book stores, and record shops there (one was even called "Positively 4th Street" during my tenure) and longed for the life of a writer and artist. Well, Bob left Minneapolis and became Dylan, and I... well, I got a job and stuck around the Twin Cities to help start and raise a family.

As someone who needs to work out, I am at the gym nearly every single day. Working out is a non-negotiable for me and has been for years. At home in Arizona, I belong to a gym where I take a variety of classes from HIIT to circuit training to strength, and sometimes a Pilates or Yin yoga class. As much as I love working out, I also love to travel. However, I can't exactly take my gym with me so have had to figure out travel workouts over the years.

I'm going to be honest here for a second: I absolutely love the state of Missouri. I can't even count the ways; it's scenic and beautiful everywhere you turn. Winter in Michigan is cold. No, it's more than just cold; winter in Michigan tends to be positively frigid, and honestly, it can make the idea of spending time outdoors less inviting. That being said, though, winter is one of my favorite times to go out and enjoy the natural world, and Michigan is an amazing place for this despite the frigid nature of... well, nature. Enter the legendary Brown Bridge Nature Loop, a trail that's only made better when covered in layers of snow and ice.
