A 21-year-old Mohawk College student, described as an “innocent bystander,” has died following a shooting in Hamilton on Thursday, police say. Police say the shooting happened at around 7:30 p.m., in the area of Upper James Street and South Bend Road East. “What we’ve learned is that there was a confrontation between two vehicles at the site, one being a black Mercedes SUV, the other vehicle a white sedan,” Acting Det.-Sgt. Daryl Reid told reporters in an update on Friday afternoon.

A woman who police describe as an has died following a shooting in Hamilton late Thursday evening, police say. In a post shared on X, Hamilton police say the shooting happened earlier on Thursday night in the area of Upper James Street and Mohawk Road. Police say the woman, who they believe was an “innocent bystander struck by a stray bullet” was brought to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

A 24-year-old man has died after his vehicle crashed into a hydro pole Wednesday night and burst into flames, according to Toronto police. Emergency crews were called to the area of Lake Shore Boulevard West and Colborne Lodge Drive, south of High Park, just before 8:50 p.m.Duty Insp. Brian Maslowski told reporters at the scene that the vehicle was travelling eastbound on Lake Shore Boulevard at a high rate of speed when it hit a curb and collided with the post.

One person has died and two others, including a toddler, are injured following a collision on Highway 401 in Scarborough, provincial police say. Police say they were called to the westbound collectors lanes at Meadowvale Road shortly after 10 a.m. on Monday after a vehicle struck a guardrail and rolled into a ditch. The driver of the vehicle died at the scene while two passengers – a 78-year-old and a two-year-old – were rushed to a local trauma centre.
