June 5 (UPI) -- Tyrese Haliburton and the Indiana Pacers know they are major underdogs in the 2025 NBA Finals, but relish the task of running through MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and the "historically great" Oklahoma City Thunder. Game 1 will tip off at 8:30 p.m. EDT Thursday in Oklahoma City. The best-of-seven-game series will air on ABC. "They're a great team," point guard Haliburton told reporters. June 5 (UPI) -- Minnesota Twins starting pitcher Pablo Lopez was diagnosed with a Grade 2 right shoulder strain and will miss 8 to 12 weeks, the team announced. The Twins announced Lopez's diagnosis and potential timeline for return Wednesday night. The right-handed pitcher sustained the injury in the fifth inning of a win over the Athletics on Tuesday in West Sacramento, Calif. He pulled himself out of the game after attempting to warmup before the sixth inning at Sutter Health Park.

June 5 (UPI) -- The University of Michigan extended a scholarship offer to Charles Woodson Jr., the son of former Wolverines star Charles Woodson, the high school football prospect announced. Woodson announced the offer Wednesday on social media. The 5-foot-11, 160-pound safety is entering his junior season at Lake Nona High School in Orlando, Fla. He previously received offers from Kentucky, Florida State, Arkansas, Baylor Iowa State, Ole Miss, Syracuse, Georgia Tech, Vanderbilt and Texas A&M.

June 5 (UPI) -- Connor McDavid slid the puck through the slot, finding Leon Draisaitl for a dramatic one-timer to lead the Edmonton Oilers past the Florida Panthers 4-3 in overtime Wednesday in Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final. The game-winner, which came with 31 seconds remaining in the first overtime period, came after the Oilers erased a 3-1 deficit, and they avoided taking devastating loss on the home ice of Rogers Place. "Every game writes its own story," Draisaitl said on the TNT broadcast.

June 4 (UPI) -- A year ago at this time, Connor McDavid and his teammates rode an emotional roller coaster into a Stanley Cup Final loss. Now, he says the Edmonton Oilers are comfortable ahead of a rematch with the Florida Panthers. The Oilers, who are slight favorites in the series, will host the Panthers in Game 1 at 8 p.m. EDT Wednesday in Edmonton.
