    The Lenoir City Council made history Wednesday evening by approving the city’s first Downtown Plan. The council previously heard a presentation on the plan last month. The Downtown Master Plan — also known as “the plan” — offers recommendations for development over the next decade or more. Council member Todd Perdue made a motion to approve the plan which followed a unanimous vote to approve. Development of the plan was first announced in 2022.

Events will continue through February with a gospel singing, movie night, essay contest and quiz bowl, and finish off with a blood drive. Staff at the Martin Luther King Jr. Center are writing the questions for the daily social media quiz, according to the city.

    HUDSON — Five people were arrested Wednesday on narcotics-related charges following a raid by Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office SWAT and ICE Unit. The News-Topic was first made aware of these arrests following the intake list regularly sent out by the Caldwell County Detention Division. According to the sheriff's office, a "nuisance" residence was being used to supply methamphetamine and fentanyl to the residents of Caldwell County.
