Montgomery Public Schools will continue work on six construction projects this summer. These projects include relocating Todd Road for a new high school, building a gym at Southlawn Middle School, and finishing an athletic field house at Park Crossing High School. Other projects include replacing turf and track at Park Crossing and Carver High Schools, and HVAC, window, and lighting updates at Morningview and Davis Elementary Schools.

A Montgomery man sought in connection with a Thursday morning armed robbery was shot and killed hours later during altercation with a special agent with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, law enforcement officials said. The man, identified as Raymond Tellis Jr., 19, of Montgomery, resisted and pulled a firearm from his waistband during a May 22 arrest attempt, ALEA Capt. Jeremy Burkett said. Tellis was shot and killed by the agent, Burkett said.

Montgomery Habitat for Humanity nears completion of two homes and expects to finish a third by August. The organization broke ground on three homes in December and aims to build eight next year, eventually increasing production to 19 homes annually.
