COLLEGE STATION, TX. — The NCAA Track and Field Preliminaries kicked off Wednesday with strong representation from Montana, featuring five athletes from the University of Montana and more than 20 from Montana State University. Montana State's Elijah Jackman began the day in the hammer throw competition. The junior achieved a throw of just over 62 meters, falling about 14 meters short of first place and only 3 meters shy of qualifying for the next round.
