TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -- The first meaningful update of the Alabama quarterback competition came two days after the close of spring practice. Offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb said, right before ending of his media availability on Monday, that if there was a game tomorrow, Ty Simpson would be the starter. Obviously, the season won't start for a few more months. The three-man race among Simpson, Austin Mack and Keelon Russell isn't over. That is, unless the transfer portal changes the equation.
