MALONE — The Northern New York Agricultural Development Program received $300,000 in the state budget and currently has 13 on-farm research projects underway. This year’s projects are at sites across six North Country counties: Franklin, Clinton, Essex, Jefferson, Lewis and St. Lawrence, according to a press release from the development program issued Tuesday.

MALONE — This year a raffle, held in conjunction with the Small Town Famous show at the Franklin County Fair, will go toward efforts to bring a new playground to the rec park. Each year the Performing Arts League of Malone raises funds to support a local cause, according to a press release from the organization, and this year funds from the raffle will be committed to an effort that is underway to replace the existing playground at the Malone Rec Park with a new playground.

Cooler temps expected in North Country after record heatMALONE — Following a series of hot and humid days cooler temps are expected for the rest of the week and into the weekend. Areas across the North Country were under a heat advisory for the majority of the day Tuesday, after two days of record high temps to start the week, with heat index values of up to 98 degrees possible, according to the National Weather Service.

MALONE — The Fieldstone Music Festival returns for its fourth year Saturday, with a day full of music, food and fun planned. An expanded music lineup and new attractions will be featured at this year’s festival in Malone held in support of the Fieldstone Foundation’s mission to provide food, housing and financial assistance to the community.

MALONE — During a trustees meeting, last week, the village’s mayor appointed a new member to the local board. Lee Rivers was appointed by Mayor Andrea M. Dumas to fill a vacant seat on Malone’s village board of trustees. Rivers will serve the remainder of Trustee Brian Langdon’s term. Langdon passed away at the age of 71 in April. He was a village trustee from 2012 to 2014 and again from 2015 until his death.
