Aya McCorkale, a Syracuse resident, decided to celebrate her summer birthday at Gannon’s Isle Ice Cream with her family. “Syracuse is usually always hot around this time, but this week…it just seems to be hotter,” McCorkale said.

MEXICO, N.Y. (WSYR) — Mexico Central School District officials said they have identified the person who vandalized the high school sign by switching letters around to make a racial slur. The slur may be gone, but the fact that it was there in the first place lingers for some in the community. “To see that…reminds me that we are not where we ought to be, and it’s just terribly disappointing,” Roy Terry, Town of Richland resident, said.

VanEpps filed a 13-page complaint against her former boss for what she claims was unlawful discrimination, retaliation and a hostile work environment. She worked as Aregano’s secretary in 2022, when she recalls being “verbally berated,” with her intelligence being questioned on numerous occasions.
