WSYR-TV (East Syracuse, NY)
WSYR-TV is a television station affiliated with ABC, serving the Central New York region and based in Syracuse. It first went on air as WNYS on September 9, 1962, broadcasting on VHF channel 9. The station underwent a couple of name changes, becoming WIXT in 1978 and later WSYR in 2005. Currently, it transmits a high-definition digital signal on UHF channel 17 from its transmitter located on Sevier Road in Pompey. Viewers can watch WSYR-TV on Time Warner channel 9 and in high definition on digital channel 1240. The station is owned by Nexstar Broadcasting Group and operates its studios on Bridge Street (NY 690) in East Syracuse.
