    Brampton’s new medical school is going to be blazing a new path forward in health care, with the help of a partnership with the Indigenous Primary Health Care Council (IPHCC). The agreement between Toronto Metropolitan University and the IPHCC is a unique approach to health-care education, working to eliminate inequities and disparities that negatively impact Indigenous people within the medical system.

    The Crown attorney has withdrawn charges against a former Peel Children’s Aid Society (CAS) employee who was facing allegations of forgery. In November 2022, Peel Regional Police charged Andre Paul, former maintenance co-ordinator, with three counts of forging documents from Sept. 30, 2021 to Oct. 12, 2021. On Dec. 4, those charges were withdrawn. Charges against former Peel CAS director of finance Marino Cader, also arrested in November 2022, are still set to go to trial in early 2024.

    Myrna Adams has been wanting to start a museum in Brampton for a long time. The 81-year-old has plans to establish the Brampton Museum of African History and Culture, to help residents learn about the continent. “As educators, we have done a disservice to our people,” Adams said, explaining that many Black youth don’t get to learn about their own heritage in school, about the accomplishments of their ancestors.

    A recent poll commissioned by the David Suzuki Foundation has found many Ontario residents support the local farming community’s opposition to Highway 413. The poll, conducted by EKOS research, interviewed 834 Ontario residents, asking several questions about their feelings on the proposed highway that would run across the north of Brampton and through Caledon, on Greenbelt lands.
