PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) - Providence is at risk of not having a waste management provider come July 1 if city councilors don't approve a contract in the coming weeks, officials were told Thursday night. The proposed $57.6 million contract with Waste Management of Rhode Island was discussed at length during a meeting of the City Council Finance Committee. City leaders said there was the option to approve a three-year contract with two two-year renewals.
