SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — "Give them a voice. That's what they need, young people need a voice, they need somebody to hear them," said Tara Allbritton, founder of 'She Got the Nerve'. For nearly two decades, Allbritton worked in the Springfield and Chicago public school systems, where she recognized the need for a safe space for youth, something not always available at school or home.

Graduates of Yakima County's Drug Court program were recognized on Thursday night as local leaders and those behind the program spoke on what drug court is all about and the impact it's had on those struggling with addiction. "It's not how many times you fall, it's how many times you get up from falling to move forward." says Jeffrey Cozzetto, a graduate of Yakima County's drug court.

YAKIMA, Wash. -- Several fire crews from Yakima County are trying to contain a big brush fire. The fire is burning along Sli road outside of Sunnyside. According to Yakima County Fire District Five, between 1,500 and 2,000 wood and plastic bins caught on fire. Crews from several departments are fighting the fire. So far, not much information has been released so it's unclear how many acres have burned so far or if any homes or buildings are threatened.
SunComm 911 reports an increase of accidental 911 calls

Leaders from Yakima's 911 call center are warning that they have seen a huge increase in the number of people accidentally calling 911 and it's causing a real problem. Managers from SunComm 911 Communications tell me in a normal day, they might get around 50 accidental 911 calls. That's already excessive, but in the last three days they say it's been nearly 200 a day. Last week, they had over 12 hundred accidental calls. That was about 35 percent of their total 911 call volume for the week.
