Yakima Herald-Republic
The Yakima Herald-Republic is a newspaper based in Yakima, Washington, serving readers in Yakima, Kittitas, and Klickitat counties, along with parts of northwest Benton County. It ranks as the seventh-largest daily newspaper in the state of Washington and has origins dating back to the late 1800s. In 1972, Harte-Hanks acquired the Herald-Republic from the Robertson family, and later sold it to a MediaNews Group affiliate in 1986. The newspaper became part of The Seattle Times Company after its purchase in 1991. Sharon Prill, originally from Hawaii, took on the role of publisher in 2010. She oversees the daily functions of the Herald-Republic, along with the weekly Spanish-language publication El Sol de Yakima, Yakima magazine, and various other specialized publications. Sharon brings a wealth of experience in interactive media, marketing, and journalism, gained from her time at the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, the Tacoma News Tribune, and the Seattle Times Company.
