    CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- The University of Virginia community gathered Wednesday night to hold a vigil in remembrance of three slain students. On Nov. 13, 2022, a fellow student allegedly opened fire as a class was returning to Grounds from a class trip. Three people were killed: Devin Chandler, D’Sean Perry, and Lavel Davis, Jr., all of whom were members of the UVA football team. On Wednesday, people gathered at the steps of Old Cabell Hall, filling the night with candlelight.

The organization is dedicated to promoting feminist ideals, leading societal change, eliminating discrimination, and achieving and protecting the equal rights of all women since 1966. The president of Charlottesville NOW, Charlotte Gibson, reflected on some of the impacts NOW has made in history.

They are looking ahead to their futures and taking a big step at their version of Signing Day. Like student-athletes, these students were announcing their intentions to go someplace specific after they graduate, but in this case, they are going to take on jobs instead of playing for a college team.
