In a painful bait-and-switch, the U.S. Department of Education reversed course on which local organization should receive the former Federal Executive Institute property in Charlottesville. In April, the Department’s Real Property Assistance Program told Charlottesville City Schools it would recommend the FEI campus be given to the school district at no cost to house its public preschool and administrative offices.

Early voting for 2025 primary elections is underway in Virginia. Registered voters may cast their ballots in person at local registrar’s offices between now and June 14, should they wish to vote before Primary Election Day, which is June 17. Find the location of your local registrar’s office here. Primary elections allow political parties to select nominees for open positions. Many races do not have primaries, especially for rural positions.
