    The Cancer Association of South Africa (Cansa) Relay For Life Mitchell’s Plain celebrated more than 100 cancer survivors at its annual relay event at Stephen Reagan Sports Field in Westridge on Friday February 7. Cancer survivors and supporters from Mitchell’s Plain and surrounding areas came out to raise awareness for the cause. Relay team members, displaying different messages of support, took turns to walk around the field from 6pm on Friday February until 6am the next day.

    Cape Town ballet teacher Cecil Jacobs, 84, is still going strong, nurturing the next generation of ballet stars. Through his non-profit organisation, Cecil Jacobs Outreach Community Project, in Strandfontein, and supported by his wife, Brenda, 74, and senior teacher, Channelle Appollis, Mr Jacobs has been teaching ballet for more than 50 years. The internationally acclaimed dancer is also a life member of the Royal Academy of Dance in London.
