SALEM, Ore. — Oregon is one step closer to allowing workers on strike to collect unemployment benefits under a bill that passed the state House this week. Senate Bill 916 B, which would extend unemployment insurance eligibility to workers after two weeks on strike, cleared the House on Wednesday following months of testimony, legislative hearings and debate. It now returns to the Senate for final approval of amendments.

VANCOUVER, Wash. — Last Thursday, a Vancouver grandfather intervened when a now-former DoorDash driver, who had delivered groceries to the home the previous night, showed up and demanded a cash tip from his daughter. Anthony Volino told KGW he had just sat down to have breakfast with his grandchildren when the family heard a loud knock at the door. "It startled my daughter, and she goes, 'Oh my gosh, you know, who the heck's pounding on the door?'" Volino said.

PORTLAND, Ore. — Portland Fire & Rescue (PF&R) investigators are seeking the public's help to identify an arsonist who used an accelerant to torch a Southeast Portland restaurant early Tuesday morning. Just before 2 a.m., PF&R crews responded to a structure fire at Ka-Te Restaurant and Bar at 3554 Southeast 82nd Avenue in the Lents neighborhood. The incident was initially reported as a commercial fire with people trapped inside the building.
