Andrea Cooke, the Project Director for Macon Mental Health Matters (MMHM), oversees the Booker T. Washington Community Center and serves as a consultant for infant and early childhood mental health at two local daycares.

MACON, Ga. (WGXA) — Several community organizations gathered in downtown Macon for a ceremonial beam signing amid construction for new lofts. The beam signing symbolized significant progress, according to NewTown Macon, in the Neel's Lofts construction project that will connect Third St. and Cherry St. in an "L" shaped building. The lofts will feature 95 new apartments, two retail spaces, office workspaces and a restaurant; all set to open at the start of the new year.

Those were the words echoing throughout downtown Macon as community members came together to remember and honor fallen public safety officers who died in the line of duty in the 14th Annual Peace Officers' Memorial Day Ceremony.

The Bibb County Sheriff's Office is investigating a shooting that took place on Ernest St. on Sunday evening. According to the release, officials responded to a call of a man shot just before 8 p.m. on Sunday. Upon arrival, they found 41-year-old Reginald Sherard Kendrick unresponsive in the backyard of a home. Paramedics attempted to perform life-saving measures however, Kendrick succumbed to his injuries. Deputy Coroner Richard Robinson pronounced Kendrick dead on the scene.
