(WOOD) — Residents of a Wayland mobile home park are concerned and upset about a planned power outage set for a cold winter weekend. “I’m worried more about my husband than myself,” an emotional Ruth Powless, who lives at Windsor Woods Village, said. “I believe that some of the elderly do not even know this is happening, like my neighbor when I went to him last night. ROCKFORD, Mich. (WOOD) — Rockford police say they didn’t pursue a Grand Rapids teenager when he and two friends fled from officers because they weren’t sure there was a third person involved. A search dog on Friday led searchers to 16-year-old Cortez McConer Jr.’s body in a swampy area south of Rockford. KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WOOD) — A man accused of leaving his son in a hot car in August, leading to the 3-year-old’s death, went before a judge for the first time Wednesday. Chad Martin, 36, of Athens, Michigan, appeared in a Kalamazoo courtroom via video linkup from the county jail to be arraigned on a count of leaving a child in a vehicle causing death.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — The Grand Rapids Police Department is asking for people in the Rockford area to check their outbuildings for any sign of a 16-year-old who was reported missing last month. The last place Cortez McConer is known to have been was near the McDonald’s on E. Division Street near Wolverine Boulevard in Rockford on Oct. 26 when he and two friends took off from police, GRPD said in a Monday release.
