She ultimately decided to pursue welding and hopes to start her own welding business. And, while she’s “super happy to be graduating,” she said, she also was sad to say a final goodbye through her graduation speech.

    Black Rock Elementary’s longtime music teacher Loretta Harvey was named Teacher of the Year by the Colorado Veterans of Foreign Wars. The award was presented by Carol Thomas, Colorado state commander of the VFW, on Thursday during the Erie school’s fifth grade continuation celebration. Harvey, who was first recognized by the local VFW chapter in December, was selected in recognition of her contributions to education and community pride.
