Michael Kerr – one of the most successful players and managers in junior football in Northern Ireland – passed away last Saturday, only days after being appointed the manager of Beragh Swifts. The 40-year-old had been manager at Enniskillen Rangers FC for over 10 years. He is survived by his wife Donna and their three girls – Anna-Mae, Cara and Colleen. His father Dessie described his funeral, which took place on Wednesday in Enniskillen, as a “great send-off”.

Historic outdoor pool has been closed to the public for five yearsPlans to restore Newcastle’s historic Rock Pool have moved a step closer after Newry, Mourne and Down District Council announced it is hoping to appoint consultants to progress the £6m restoration project within months. It is anticipated that two integrated consultancy teams will be appointed before the end of the summer to spearhead the initiative and a separate plan for a new leisure centre expected to cost a further £12m.
