MOBILE COUNTY, Ala. (WPMI) — The Mobile County Commission is holding a public hearing Monday morning on a proposed landfill in Irvington. If approved, construction and demolition debris would be disposed of at the 80-acre site located south of I-10. Household waste would not be accepted at the landfill. Opponents argue they don't want the increased truck traffic and believe the site is too close to the headwaters of Fowl River.

BALDWIN COUNTY, Ala. (SBG) — Flood waters in Baldwin County are now receding. Overnight, Styx River reached almost 21 feet, which is considered a major or life-threatening flood stage. People camping near the river evacuated after heavy rain fell Sunday. Charlie and Gladys Buckley were still waiting in their RV in a nearby parking lot on Tuesday for the water level to go down so they could get back to the campground. "I guess we'll stay here until it recedes," said Gladys.

"We did tune in live," said Public Safety Director Rob Lasky. "And immediately ruled that Langan Park was not the area that the shooting took place."No one was hurt. Police believe the gunfire came from a wooded area near the Mobile Botanical Gardens. The new cameras are a tool police did not have last month when a shootout erupted near the Langan Park playground. No one was hurt in that shooting either. There were city-owned surveillance cameras at the time of the March 11th shooting.
