DAPHNE, Ala. (WPMI) — Strong thunderstorms caused damage across our area Thursday morning. Trees fell on power lines in Loxley causing a car to catch fire. Another tree fell on a home in Daphne, terrifying the family inside. The massive pine tree almost cut Shirley Walton’s home in half. "The tree fell on my house, right in the middle of it and crushed it," said Walton.

MOBILE, Ala. (WPMI) — If Councilman Josh Woods wanted to hitch a ride on a WAVE Transit bus from his west Mobile home to a city council meeting at Government Plaza, he says it would take him nearly two hours to get there. "If I worked an eight-hour day, I would spend four hours just getting to and from my job. I think in the city of Mobile in 2025 that's unacceptable," said Woods. His route includes walking almost a mile to the bus stop on Hillcrest Road, then catching a transfer bus at the mall.

MOBILE, Ala. (WPMI) — Memorial Day is a time to honor all veterans who passed away, especially those who made the ultimate sacrifice during battle. Somber ceremonies took place across the Gulf Coast beginning with a flag raising ceremony at the Vietnam Memorial at USS Alabama Battleship Memorial Park Monday morning. The flag was then lowered to half-staff to honor our fallen heroes. "Our freedom is not free by any means. It's got to be sacrifices," said veteran Bill Norris.
